Afternoon Tea at Home

I’m sure we aren’t the only ones trying to come up with creative ways to spend our weekends during a world pandemic and while on lockdown. We’ve done our own paint nights, played hours of COD on our new Xbox, gone on walks, tried new recipes, etc… I kept seeing memories of my past travels which only makes things worse. So I decided that since we can’t have Afternoon Tea in London anytime soon, we were going to have it home instead.

Have fun with your afternoon tea. You’re at home, make up your own rules! It’s great way to spend an afternoon with your girl friends, or a wonderful treat for Mom for Mother’s Day! I like starting mine off with a nice glass of Prosecco or Champagne.

What you will need:
  • A nice table cloth
  • Nice naptkins
  • Flowers
  • Serving platter / stand
  • Tea pot
  • Tea cups / mugs
  • Your favourite tea
  • Side plates
  • Scones
  • Assortment of small desserts
  • Assortment of sandwiches
  • Your favourite jam
Sandwich Ideas

When making your sandwiches, get creative. You can cut them in triangles or in rectangles, with or with crust. Pick flavour combinations you like. Here are some of the standard combinations:

Dessert ideas

You can make them yourself or visit your local bakery. I like to grab a variety of different ones. Here are some of my favourite treats:

  • French Macarons
  • Fruit tarts
  • Dessert Squares
  • Mini cheese cakes
  • Cupcakes
  • Lemon tarts
  • Scones
