Grandma’s Ginger Cookies

Ingredients
¾ cup shortening
1 cup sugar, plus more for rolling
1 egg
¼ cup molasses
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
½ tsp ground gloves
1 tsp salt
2 cups flour

Directions
Cream shortening and sugar.  Add egg and mix well, then add molasses. 

Mix in the remaining ingredients, cover and leave the dough the fridge overnight or for at least 2 hours.

Pre-heat oven to 350°F.  

Remove dough from fridge and roll into 2” balls.  Dip the balls in sugar and place on greased or lined cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart.

Bake for 8 – 10 minutes.

Cool on a baking rack and serve or place in air tight container.
